Some family law attorneys charge flat fees for routine matters, such as uncontested divorces with no children. Otherwise, attorneys typically charge by the hour. The hourly fee could be anywhere from $85 to $400 or more, depending on the attorney’s level of experience, track record, and the complexity of the matters to be handled.
How do you choose the right family law attorney?
In family law, judges will typically give a good deal of leeway to an agreement negotiated between the parties, so long as it meets the applicable legal standards. A good family law attorney has the experience to understand what the judges will and will not find acceptable and tailor any negotiated agreement to pass muster.
