When the Lowell Police or the Massachusetts State Police respond to an accident scene, they create a formal report about the accident. Called the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Crash Police Report, this document is a key piece of evidence. Insurance companies review it closely, and if you were involved in a Lowell car accident, you should too.

You can request a crash report from the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Note, however, that there is a $20 search fee to request the report from the RMV. If the Lowell Police investigated your crash, you can request an accident report from the department’s Records Staff and pick it up at the police station. You will need to provide the date and location of the accident, the name of the investigating officer, and the names of the people involved. There is a $1 fee per report.

You can skip the hassle and get your copy of the accident report using the form on this page. Or you can sidestep the process entirely by hiring a Lowell car accident lawyer who will handle the request for the report on your behalf.
