After a car accident, act fast. At the scene, before you do anything else, call 911. The dispatcher will notify the Mississippi Highway Patrol or local law enforcement. Law enforcement will question you and you’ll also have to exchange contact information with the other driver. Keep both conversations very brief. Don’t mention anything about fault or other details about the accident.
You’ll then want to call a doctor. This could be your own primary care, or you could go to urgent care or a hospital. Even if you have no symptoms, you’ll want to be examined for injuries. Many injuries show up days after an accident, so seeing a doctor as soon as possible can catch them before they have the chance to get worse.
